Blogging sometimes sucks!

Blogging sometimes sucks!

Blogging sometimes sucks!

So, as per my previous post, I have been trying to decide for the last 2 months which platform I should to publish my little blogs. From iWeb (too slow, hell to upload), to Rapidweaver (great but still has some issues with albums and other minor things), Sandvox (very promising, couldn’t just find a design I really liked). So, I though, let’s have a look at the more professional stuff and went online to look for info on Wordpress, TYpepad, MoveableType, Vox. And once again, it is all the same! I am currently posting using Wordpress, which has a fantastic intuitive interface and some great designs but totally lacks of photo album, multi upload, etc. I could get these using plugins, providing that I host my own instance of Wordpress… This might actually happen! Typepad… Very promising at first. Looks great, reminds me of Vox (well, obviously) but once being used, totally inconsistent in terms of designs (photo albums don’t share the same design that the main page, same for the About section, etc…). Next! Vox. I simply LOVE it… But I can’t get a www.tryphoon.com and use Vox at the same time! Simply sucks! So, once again, I have to chose between “plague and cholera” and this is not OK. I want my top little tiny web that does everything I want it to do, doesn’t use tons of extras I don’t care about and gives me a little photo album! THAT SIMPLE!

Once again, the dilemna is here! I have been trying to maintain our current blogs using iWeb, after having used Rapidweaver and have been looking into Sandvox over the last month, but so far, all of these applications have their limitations (some of them more that the others) and none of them really pleases me!

And I am really getting tired of having to wait for my Mac to export a couple of pages for 20 minutes because iWeb doesn’t do incremental updates to sites…So the result is that I am now secretly working on transferring all our sites under one single banner, using the Wordpress platform… The dream (penthouse level as Mike would call it) would be a white label version of Vox or the ability to use my own domain name with Vox… Not happening…I am not sure I might get everything I want out of Wordpress but at least I am trying! The result shall appear online within a couple of weeks (migrating 10-20 posts per day)

Until then…
