Time to give some news!

Well, well, well, now that the pain of redoing this site is almost over, it is definitely time to give some real news…

So what happened in the last month or so? Well, the house is now totally done. Sarah worked her bum off and managed to make this new place under the sun feel like a new home. Thia’s bedroom is done and has finally her name on her door (as well as on the wall, on her board, etc). The guest room is done and is currently occupied by Sarah’s parents who arrived last night from the UK. Our second set of visitors after Elaine came from Australia (via London, please) almost a month ago. My office looks just like our old living room in London and our new living room feels good! So, in a nutshell, we now really have a home.

On the transportation front, I have my little car, already nicknamed the Flint-mobile by Sarah, due to the fact that it feels like driving the Flinstone’s car (apparently) and Sarah can now enjoy not having to drive me to the office every day and pick me up (saving her a couple of hours in traffic every day).

Our friends the dears keep visiting us and Thia seems to really enjoy their company, as well as her inflatable pool in the garden, well, the garden in general! Her languages skills are improving by the day and she now makes 2 to 3 words sentences, mixing both French and English. She is as well now enrolled into pre-school in Burbank (next to my office) and shall start in September.

And last but not least, our community pool (almost at the back of the house) has finally opened and we have already enjoyed the benefit of it a couple of times (first time was last weekend, on Memorial day).

So, life is getting there pretty much. It is still hard and there are great days and bad days, but no one really expected this transition to be easy and if you look at it, I think we’ve done pretty well in only 4 months in the country and 2 months in our new house in Montrose!

So that’s it for a very quick catch up.

I’ll try to add more past news and update this more often, with the help of our new blogging technologies.

A morning at home…

Last week end, impulse buy, I decided to subscribe to the local newspaper and to get it delivered to our door, as the kids in the movies do, from Thursday to Sunday…

So this morning was the time we received it and I was up early (or earlier than the time I used to get up in London) and rushed to get my newspaper.

The day was gorgeous and I thought that I should share with you how a morning looks like in our new home and a little video attached here and a couple of pictures, views from our bedroom…

Easter Sunday!

blog_070408_1.jpg

Today is Easter Sunday and traditions have to be maintained!

So this morning, after her shower (aka Douche), Thia rushed to the garden and realised that the Easter Bunny had hidden many eggs in the flowers and bushes, all of them filled with sweet things…

Sign of the time though: When I was a kid, I had a couple of large chocolate eggs or chocolate hen, filled with smaller eggs. Well, these days, the eggs are made of plastic and parents can fill whatever they want in them…

I guess, this is better as well in California and avoids the meltdown of chocolate in the sun!
