Pint Glass Half Full?

Well, walking with my little monster towards our local market today, I couldn’t help noticing a weird notice board in front our one of the local pubs.

This pub seems great and is really trying extremely hard to create a sense of community and acquire new customers. We already had Cajun food night, Karaoke night, Live music night, DJ night, betting on the 6 nations, Christmas trees sales, etc…

But this time, they are offering medical advice… in a pub!! I am hence torn between applauding or screaming… Knowing the kind of crowd you find in local pubs around here, it is pretty clear that the dietitian is vital. But in a pub? Are they willing to shoot themselves in the foot as the main advices shall be:

  • Drink less
  • Eat healthy
  • Quit liquid meals

Or are they simply good Samaritans, willing to help their community?

Another evidence of the failure of the NHS or a new type or service?

You decide!

Jef turns 26!

Invited guests were Sarah and I as well as Kate and Alexis and Bea & Nono if available. Excused were Nono stuck at the office until midnight, Bea stuck at home and Kate stuck at a Wodka party in Moscow (we are used to this, Alexis missed our wedding due to some drinking contest in Thailand).

The place: TGI Friday..

Why TGI Friday? Well, simply because I remembered them singing and dancing for birthdays from one of the last times I visited one of these places. And knowing Jeff, I was sure he would blush to death and wish he could dig a hole and hide in it while the crew and guests are screaming his name!

Well, I wasn’t disappointed!

Getting there was a bit more complicated than planned…

Everything was timed perfectly, from getting home, feeding the monster, welcoming our baby-sitter for the night to meeting Alexis in a nearby bar for Sarah and from wrapping presents, getting home, welcoming Jeff and going out for a drink for me (seems I picked the best part again)…

We only forgot one thing. Jeff cannot be on time…

So everything had to be shifted, lies had to be improvised on the fly. We even managed to reach a close to fake argument between Sarah and I when I tried to get Jeff to a bar…

Anyways, the best part of the night was when finally, after hours of efforts, the TGI Fridays crew turned up with cake portions, candles and started to sing…

And as the proof is in the pudding, enjoy the tiny little video…

Have you seen this buggy?

blog_060126.png

Wanted: 12 month old push chair has not been seen since 10:00 pm on the night of the 26th of January 2006. The buggy was last seen in our building’s communal areas in London, Fulham. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Reward: Bottle of wine

Well, well, well… Things don’t always go as planned, don’t they?

Yesterday was one of these days where almost nothing goes well…

So let’s go back in time…

I woke up yesterday at my usual time, by the delicate tune of an hungry baby girl. The morning routine went as it does every morning. Bottle of milk, sitting on the sofa, watching “Télématin” (French program to ensure bilingual ability of the young one). Breakfast sitting on the high chair. Play in the flat while Daddy cleans, gets ready, checks email, etc…

Then I leave the flat around nine and something catches my eyes on my way out of the building. Actually the lack of something are the correct words here…

Thia’s buggy (stroller for our US cousins) has gone, vanished, disappeared…

Someone STOLE our baby girl’s push chair FROM THE FIRST (US English: Second) FLOOR OF OUR BUILDING…

I won’t start here and explain who I personally think committed this atrocious crime, but well, the day did really start with a bang…

What to do next?

  • Police… checked
  • Insurance…checked (and yelled, thanks to Sarah, they have accepted the claim)
  • New buggy… checked
  • Note in the hallway to let our neighbors know exactly how I feel about this all thing… checked…
  • Back to the office late when I really planned to be there on time… checked..
